Italy Art Journal

Art. Pizza. Architecture. Scooters. Markets. Gelato. Beaches. Blue.

Those are the words that sum up my trip to Italy this year. My partner and I explored Naples, Capri, the Amalfi Coast, Salerno, Paestum, Pompeii, Matera, Bari, and Palermo.

It was a trip I had been planning in my head since I was a little girl. My great grandfather was from Calabria, Italy and I had always wanted to go and experience the kindof life he may have had.

It did not live up to my expectations. Instead I experienced an incredible journey into Roman and Greek history, learned about the underground tunnels used as shelters in WWII and discovered an ancient city made of caves.

Not to mention the incredible food.

While I was there I documented everything in my art journal, letting the vibe of each city influence my art. I hope you can get a sense of the inspiration and uniqueness of southern Italy that I experienced.
